My Memories Suite 2 Giveaway

Good morning everyone, hope everyone's week was a great one, I had a great week but it just flew by too quickly, I did manage to get some fun and creative projects done.  So, I wanted to share my latest finding with all my wonderful readers, I have been playing with this new digital scrapbooking software, it's called My Memories Suite 2 and let me tell you, if you have ever been thinking about playing with digital scrapbooking, digital photo cards, or any other digital designing but you don't want to spend hours and hours learning the design programs like Photoshop or you don't want to spend all that money that most design programs cost, this is the design software for you.  I have been doing digital design for several years now, not a lot, just here and there, but sometimes I just don't feel like dealing with the whole Photoshop thing, so this is the perfect option for me. It's so easy to use and all the features included in the software are fantastic.  You can put together an album in no time, plus you have several options on how you want to share your work, you can print a complete hardbound book, you can print your individual pages and put them in your traditional scrapbook, you can turn  your layouts into a movie to watch on a DVD or view on your iPod, I really love the idea of making a whole album with music, video and even links, this would make some great gifts for the grandparents.

As I said, I have been playing with all the great features in this software and got 3 projects done that I had been trying to work on for a while.  Now, the great thing about this software is that it already comes loaded with a great collection of papers, embellishments, and templates, or you can easily use any digital files from other digital scrapbooking sites.  When you first open the software you have a choice of choosing your templates or you can start with a blank page, which is what I did with the following 3 projects I designed.  I think the template option would be perfect if I was putting together a book with lots of pages, but for the most part I like to start my projects with a blank page.

My first project is a 4" x 6" photo card I made for my little niece, I started by placing the background paper, this is one of the designs that comes with the software, but the color was not what I wanted, so I placed a dark pink rectangle shape covering the whole background and changed the opacity to show the design from the background, and there you go I had my perfect background paper.  All the embellishments used here are part of a couple of free kits that I got from the My Memories store, except the ornate frame behind the photo, that is an SVG file I usually use with my Cricut Expression but with this program you can use SVG files as shapes and fill them with color or pattern.  You can find a great video here on how to save and use the SVG files with this software.

My next project is an 8" x 8" layout for my Mom's album, her album has become a hybrid album, it has traditional layouts with all the paper and embellishments and some digital layouts.  This is a photo of Maria after her dance recital, I used this beautiful kit called "Sweet Caroline" that I purchased over at My Memories, I just love the colors and patterns on this kit.  Again I started with a blank page and started layering all my papers and embellishments, everything is just drag and drop, that easy.  I love the fact that for your photo you just place a photo box, size it to your like and then you just drag and drop the photo, and you can re-size it or change the shape at any time.

Here I have another 8" x 8" layout for my Mom's album, the photo is of Maria on her first day of school this past Monday.   For this one I used another kit I purchased at the My Memories store, this kit is called "Every Day With You", I did ton's of layering, I also used another SVG file for the fancy shape behind the photo and all I had to do was just drag and drop the patterned paper on to it.  Once I had all my papers and embellishments in place I added shadows to everything with just one click.
